Son of NFL Hall-of-Famer earns starting QB job at FBS program

Sons have long looked up to their dad and wanted to follow on a similar career path, and that has been the case for current Fresno State quarterback E.J. Warner.

His dad, Kurt, is in the NFL Hall of Fame after helping the St. Louis Rams form one of the greatest offenses in NFL history, while also leading the team to a Super Bowl.

On Monday, it was announced that the younger Warner would be the starting quarterback for Fresno State as the Bulldogs open up the season with a Week 0 road game at Kansas.

Warner brings a ton of starting experience for the Bulldogs, as he has 31 career starts in his first two stops at Temple and Rice. In his college career, he has thrown for 8,814 yards, 58 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.

It was an intense and competitive battle throughout training camp for the quarterback position, as Warner had to beat out Carson Conklin and Jayden Mandal.
