South Carolina will be down another player due to suspension, this time it’s redshirt freshman Sherrod Pittman who will be sitting. The Gamecocks announced the reserve linebacker will miss not only the Mississippi State game but also the East Carolina contest next week, as well.

Pittman’s suspension stems from a violation of team rules. The news was first reported by John Del Bianco of The Big Spur. Pittman has yet to register any stats for the Gamecocks after signing in the 2015 recruiting class. Pittman was a four-star prospect from Jacksonville and rated as the No. 23 outside linebacker in the nation, according to 247Sports.

The Gamecocks announced the suspension of four other players before the season opener against Vanderbilt last weekend.

The four previous suspensions, involving offensive linemen Alan Knott and Christian Pellage, defensive back Toure Boyd and defensive lineman Abu Lamin, were all three game suspensions – meaning all five players are now scheduled to miss the East Carolina game.
