South Carolina won a major in-state recruiting battle on Friday evening.

The Gamecocks earned a commitment from 3-star offensive line prospect Blake Franks. He chose South Carolina over Clemson, Florida, Alabama and several other top programs.

Here’s video of his announcement:

Franks attends Greenville High School in Greenville, South Carolina. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 310 pounds.

He’s a major addition for the Gamecocks in this class as well. He’s currently ranked as the No. 495 overall player and the No. 34 offensive lineman in the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Franks is also the No. 7 player from the state of South Carolina.

The fact that Franks is an in-state recruit was certainly not lost on head coach Shane Beamer. Shortly after his announcement, Beamer celebrated by sharing a photo of the South Carolina state flag:

South Carolina is now up to 6 commitments in the class of 2024. The core of that class is built from hometown prospects with 3 of the 6 hailing from South Carolina. Overall, the group currently sits at No. 8 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Here are some highlights from his junior season:
