Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier confirmed Sunday his team would be without starting center Alan Knott for several weeks after he suffered a high ankle sprain during the second quarter of Saturday’s 52-20 loss at Georgia.

True freshman Zach Bailey, who played all of the second half in Athens, should get the start next week against UCF (0-3) at noon on ESPNU.

“Zack had one or two low snaps, but did pretty good for the first time,” Spurrier said during his Sunday teleconference.
