South Carolina played without defensive back R.J. Roderick last week against Eastern Illinois because of a suspension.
However, defensive coordinator Clayton White told reporters that Roderick is expected to be back this week when the Gamecocks travel to East Carolina. Last week, the Gamecocks inserted Jaylin Dickerson and Jaylan Foster into areas where Roderick would have lined up.
This will be a reset of sorts for Roderick, who started 6 of the first 7 games last season for the Gamecocks, but was among the players who opted out of the rest of the season following the dismissal of coach Will Muschamp.
Last year, he had 23 tackles and at least three stops in every game he played, including a season-high 5 tackles against Auburn.
