South Carolina fans voiced their displeasure with the Gamecocks offense in the first half of Saturday’s game against No. 14 Oklahoma – expressing their unhappiness at offensive coordinator Mike Shula.

Shula’s South Carolina offense showed little life against the Sooners through the first 30 minutes, totaling 109 yards and going 0-for-6 on third down. That led to audible “Fire Shula” chants echoing through Williams-Brice Stadium in the first half.

South Carolina saw its first drive of the game go 72 yards on 10 plays but sputter short on downs at the Oklahoma 3. The Gamecocks then went 3-and-out on their ensuring 2 drives of the first half. South Carolina’s penultimate possession of the half resulted in a 2-yard touchdown from LaNorris Sellers to Nyck Harbor on 4th-and-goal.

Shula, a former Alabama quarterback and head coach in Tuscaloosa from 2003-06, is the son of legendary NFL coach Don Shula. He had several stints as an NFL offensive coordinator following his tenure in Tuscaloosa and was promoted to South Carolina’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before the 2025 season.
