South Carolina is playing well against No. 21 North Carolina on Saturday night in Charlotte. But the defense still had an embarrassing play along the way.

With North Carolina driving down the field, there was some confusion on the Gamecocks’ defense, leading to 13 players being on the field for a goal-line play in the first quarter.

However, even with 13 Gamecocks on the field, North Carolina managed to punch the ball into the end zone, as you can see below:

At the 8:30 mark in the second quarter, the score was 7-7, so the penalty hasn’t killed Shane Beamer’s squad. All teams are going to have issues with communication and formations in Week 1. It’s about overcoming them and finding a way to win still.

South Carolina battled back to take a 14-10 lead over the Tar Heels late in the second quarter. Can Shane Beamer and company pull off another impressive win?

Find out on ABC as the second half draws closer.
