The South Carolina Gamecocks promoted former WR coach Bryan McClendon to offensive coordinator and have also hired a new QB coach.

According to a press conference on Friday morning, the Gamecocks have hired Alabama offensive analyst Dan Werner to coach Jake Bentley and the South Carolina quarterbacks.

Werner drew interest from many other schools, but he ended up landing with South Carolina when all was said and done:

Werner won’t join the Gamecocks right away though, as he still has some work to do with the Crimson Tide:

Werner has also spent time at Ole Miss under Hugh Freeze and also previously worked at Miami.

Having a junior in Bentley next year will make Werner’s job easier, but if Bentley doesn’t take a step forward in 2018, fans won’t be happy.
