The Gamecocks are now just the second SEC team to have double digit commitments for the 2019 recruiting cycle (joining Ole Miss) as Peach State native Tra Wilkins pledged his commitment to South Carolina on Friday.

While he’s only currently rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Stone Mountain native is a very sought after prospect on the recruiting trail. He picked the Gamecocks over scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ohio State, among others.

Here is his official announcement, which he posted Friday morning:

Last season as a high school junior, Wilkins had 55 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles and two touchdowns.

Judging by his highlight reel, he’s an explosive play waiting to happen on the defensive side of the ball. Taking that into consideration, it’s no wonder Will Muschamp wants him in Columbia.
