The South Carolina Gamecocks are hoping a revamped offensive line can help turn around their chances heading into 2026 – but those chances may have hit a significant speed bump this week.
Inside The Gamecocks reported Saturday that transfer tackle Jacarrius Peak has sustained an injury during offseason workouts that could keep him sidelined for some time.
The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Peak, a highly coveted portal pickup by head coach Shane Beamer and new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, transferred from NC State to help buoy an offensive line that was beset by trouble both pass blocking and in developing a consistent running game in 2025.
Peak is slated to start opposite Josiah Thompson on that offensive line, though no details of his injury have been made public. As a redshirt junior, Peak as the ACC’s second-highest ranked pass blocker at left tackle – recording 50 pancake blocks and 18 knockdowns. Peak started 32 of 38 games over three seasons and recorded over 2,200 offensive snaps at both left and right tackle.
Should Peak miss significant time, South Carolina would likely turn to South Carolina will likely look at true freshman Zyon Guiles, redshirt senior Armando Nieves, redshirt senior Dayne Arnett, redshirt senior Seth Smith and redshirt junior Ebubedike Nnabugwu as options.
