Shane Beamer and his staff have added commitment No. 5 to South Carolina’s 2022 recruiting class.
On Sunday, Lakeland, Florida native JyVonte McClendon announced his pledge to the Gamecocks. South Carolina defensive backs coach Torrian Gray is also a Lakeland native.
The 6-2, 180-pound Lake Gibson standout is rated 3-stars, the No. 78 Florida recruit, No. 35 safety and No. 549 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite. McClendon has picked up 14 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Auburn and Gray’s former team, Florida, during his recruitment.
