South Carolina picks up late commitment from WR in class of 2023

South Carolina earned a late commitment from 2023 wide receiver Elijah Caldwell on Thursday afternoon.

Caldwell picked the Gamecocks over offers from programs like NC State, Purdue and Georgia Tech. He was a West Virginia commit until he backed off of that pledge in December.

Here’s his commitment announcement:

Caldwell is a local product. He attends Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He’s listed at 6-foot, 190 pounds.

He’s a nice addition to the Gamecocks’ 2023 class. He ranks as the No. 121 receiver nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 11 player from the state of South Carolina.

Caldwell’s addition gives South Carolina 24 members of its 2023 signing class. Caldwell and 4-star defensive lineman Zavion Hardy are the only players who have not yet signed with the Gamecocks. They will be able to do so officially on National Signing Day, which is Feb. 1.
