Lorenzo Nuñez won’t be playing in the team’s spring game this Saturday.
Head coach Will Muschamp told the media on Thursday that the Gamecocks sophomore QB, who’s been dealing with a hyperextended left knee, has not been cleared to play in the game.
Muschamp said back on March 22 that Nuñez’s injury wasn’t serious contrary to some reports that he was seen on crutches and his left leg was in a full brace, saying he expected to get the signal-caller back “in a week or so.”
It very well could be that the team is just holding Nuñez out as a precaution. However, the more time he misses, the more he loses ground to redshirt senior Perry Orth, redshirt junior Connor Mitch and freshman Brandon McIlwain in the battle for the starting job.
