South Carolina coach Will Muschamp announced that redshirt senior running back Caleb Kinlaw would be out for the season on Saturday. Kinlaw confirmed the news on Twitter later in the night, announcing that he sustained a torn ACL.

In his tweet, Kinlaw stated that he would decide whether he’ll pursue a sixth year of eligibility when he “can think with a clearer mind.” He added that he is “forever grateful to have full support from the coaching staffs, team and fans.”

Kinlaw transferred to South Carolina after previously playing at Wisconsin and Pearl River Community College (Poplarville, Miss.). He was eligible for the first time with the Gamecocks during the 2017 season, when he had four carries for 47 yards.

Kinlaw’s ACL tear came without contact. He planted on his foot and his knee gave out during practice.

Kinlaw signed with Wisconsin after playing at Goose Creek (S.C.) High School in 2014. He is scheduled to graduate from South Carolina in December. However, because of the injury, he could potentially get approved for a sixth year of eligibility and return to the Gamecocks for the 2019 season, if he decides to do so.
