South Carolina is celebrating the country’s veterans with a special patriotic-themed video to unveil their uniform combination for Saturday night’s game against Texas A&M.
The video features Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp, as well as portions of the inaugural address of former President John F. Kennedy in 1961 and the Veterans’ Day address of former President Ronald Reagan in 1985, along with clips of surprise homecomings held at Williams-Brice Stadium over the years. As for the Gamecocks’ uniform on Saturday, they will be wearing white helmets with maroon striping, their maroon jersey, and white pants.
The South Carolina campus is minutes away from the U.S. Army base at Fort Jackson, and the football program and university as a whole has always enjoyed a close relationship with the military. The team has trained with members of the Army over the past number of years. Also, school president Robert Caslen is an Army veteran and former superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
