Assumption transfer Carlins Platel has arrived at South Carolina with some promising upside.
The Division II graduate transfer, who is 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, will play in the defensive secondary and has some position flexibility after he had 7 career interceptions at Assumption. Platel spoke with the media about how one of his former teammates Deonte Harris helped prepare him for the move to the SEC.
Harris went on to the NFL, and has become a New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl returner/wide receiver.
“We had a great receiver, going against him every day, one-on-one, the coach would put me out there against him, it was great, he was an older guy that I got to go against,” Platel said. “Then when he left, being able to go against Deonte Harris. He was smaller, but he was quick. That was a challenge in itself being a bigger corner going against a smaller guy like him. They made me better. Those first two years at Assumption, the receivers that we had, they definitely got me better, and I think that’s what helped with the success I had over there. They made it harder in practice than what I seen in the games.”
Harris saw the video tweeted by Mike Uva and responded, “Yessir!!! I ain’t do nothing though, I could never get open against @CarlinsPlatel.”
