The Head Ball Coach had a little fun Thursday morning during country star Darius Rucker’s appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, calling in live as ‘Steve from South Carolina’.

It didn’t take long for Rucker, who is making the national media rounds this week thanks to the release of his fourth country solo album Southern Style, to know his favorite coach was chiming in.
“Is this the ball coach,” Rucker asked.
“Yeah, this is him, I’m getting ready to go to Tampa and hopefully watch our women’s basketball team beat Notre Dame,” Spurrier said.
“He’s an amazing asset for our university and I’m so proud to be his friend,” Rucker said to Patrick with Spurrier on the line.
Rucker is a mega Gamecocks fan and said he’ll play a free concert for South Carolina students if Dawn Staley’s women’s basketball team cuts down the nets this weekend at the Final Four.
