Staff shakeup expected at LSU after blowout loss to Texas A&M, per report

In the wake of No. 20 LSU’s lopsided 49-25 home loss to No. 3 Texas A&M, reports are surfacing Sunday that there could be a shakeup among coach Brian Kelly’s staff.
On3’s Pete Nakos and Shea Dixon reported that there could be one or more assistant coaches let go by Kelly and LSU following the loss to the Aggies at Tiger Stadium.
Kelly was seen criticizing LSU special teams analyst Aman Anand following Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown as part of the Aggies’ 21-point third quarter. LSU special teams did contribute 2 points earlier in the game, blocking a Texas A&M punt out of the end zone for a safety.
He was also seen on his headset late in the first half, apparently asking offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan why the Tigers threw a pass in the flat on a 3rd down with no timeouts remaining. At LSU, Kelly has made staff changes before. He fired 4 assistants after the 2023 season – dismissing defensive coordinator Matt House, cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples, safeties coach Kerry Cooks and defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey following a 9-3 season.
At 5-3 overall and 2-3 in SEC play, LSU is considered out of College Football Playoff and SEC title consideration. The Tigers still play tough games at No. 4 Alabama on Nov. 8 and at No. 13 Oklahoma on Nov. 29.
