Stephen A. Smith complimented Deion Sanders for the impact the Colorado head coach has had on college football. Smith did this on Wednesday’s version of ‘First Take’.
Smith realized that Sanders has done great things for the game of college football, but also for HBCU’s like Jackson State. Smith stated that losing to Nebraska in Week 2 can’t erase what Sanders has done.
“Let’s understand from the big scheme of things. Even a loss to Nebraska doesn’t erase what we just saw last weekend. It doesn’t erase what Deion Sanders has done. He’s been maligned. He was maligned when he went to Jackson State. He was maligned by opposing HBCU coaches, like Eddie Robinson Jr. at Alabama State. At the end of the day, you’re not looking at the big picture. What Sanders meant in terms of the attention he brought to HBCU’s, Jackson State, and how he used every opportunity to highlight the disadvantages HBCU’s were operating at.”

Sanders will now take part in the rivalry with the Huskers for his next game. The Buffaloes have not lost to Nebraska in the last two meetings, and Sanders will try to keep it that way.
Kickoff will be at Noon ET on FOX.
