Stetson Bennett, a former walk-on, and TCU quarterback Max Duggan should not be here. But that’s the beauty of college football, isn’t it?
The 2 signal callers will face off in the National Championship next week after downing their respective Peach and Fiesta Bowl opponents. Georgia was the favorite against Ohio State, which gave the Bulldogs everything it had. TCU was the underdog and shocked No. 2 Michigan with a thrilling game, seeing the Horned Frogs and 1st-year HC Sonny Dykes come out on top, 51-45.
Bennett spoke on what Duggan means to the TCU program Tuesday afternoon at the SEC teleconference.
Georgia’s Stetson Bennett on TCU QB Max Duggan: “He’s an A+ dude. He works hard. He’s the heart & soul of that team. He’s a leader. There’s something to be said about his story & my story & we’re here at the end (playing for national title)”

Duggan threw for 225 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions against a strong Michigan defense. He has 32 touchdowns on the season and put up a Herculean effort in a narrow Big 12 Championship loss to Kansas State, the Horned Frogs’ only loss of the season.
TCU has been the definition of tough this season and the Horned Frogs are not a team that can be blown out. Despite the discourse surrounding the Horned Frogs, Bennett and Co. will need to bring everything they have to repeat as National Champions next Monday.
