Steve Sarkisian and Texas lead Alabama 13-6 as Xavier Worthy has 5 catches for 75 yards and a TD.
At halftime, Sarkisian spoke with Holly Rowe of ESPN about how the Longhorns did it.
“I just think we’re playing loose and free and confident football,” Sarkisian said. “We missed a couple opportunities, but I liked the mentality of our team, I liked the way we’re playing.”
Alabama QB Jalen Milroe has found success on the ground, but Sarkisian was asked how to stop it.
“Well, we haven’t contained him good enough, so we’ve got to do a better job of securing our edges when we’re rushing and squeeze the pocket a little bit more,” he said. “But I love the way our defense is playing right now, we’re getting some pretty good stops.”
Milroe is 8-for-15 passing with an interception, and has 9 carries for 52 yards rushing, including a 20-yard run.
Alabama is 2-for-7 on 3rd down conversions and had a key penalty on a lineman downfield that erased a would-be touchdown late in the first half.
