Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns are gearing up for what should be a special season in 2025. Leading the way for the Longhorns will be Arch Manning, who provided the fans with a glimpse of what he can do during last season.
He was the backup behind Quinn Ewers, but now that he is the starter, Sarkisian talked about how Manning is preparing for this upcoming season.
“From the day he arrived, he has been a really quality teammate,” Steve Sarkisian said on ESPN. “… Now, what he is doing in our locker room and the leadership he possesses, to go along with the skill set all the things he has. He is big, he is fast and he is strong. He has a great arm and he’s a really competitive youn gman. Nobody works harder than him in the weight room. He is a really competitive young man. The transition feels good. You always get nervous when you lose a 3-year starter at quarterback, but I think we are in really good hands with Arch and what he’s going to bring to our program.”
One reason why Sarkisian is confident the team is in great shape with Manning is because of his maturity.
“We get them when they are 17-18 years old, as they grow in the program, you start to see them not only physically mature but mentally mature,” Sarkisian said. “… He was the guy that was so fired up every day that he showed up, but I think he saw the value of learning. He saw what Quinn was going through, and was able to say ‘How would I handle those situations.’ We are getting a guy who may be a first-year starter, but has the experience of what it is going to feel like to handle some of those situations as they come up.”
The Longhorns will not be having a spring football game, so Texas fans will have to wait until next season to see Manning.
