Texas is in the midst of a pivotal offseason as Steve Sarkisian looks to sustain the success the Longhorns have had in recent years.

Sarkisian and his staff are being tasked with replacing quite a bit of talent off of last year’s team that made the College Football Playoff. Texas signed an elite recruiting class in 2025 and has already brought in several high-impact transfers.

However, the work is not done yet. On Tuesday, Sarkisian told reporters that Texas will be looking to solidify its roster at 3 key positions during the spring portal window: defensive tackle, tight end and wide receiver.

Those are 3 positions Texas has lost a lot from this offseason. At receiver, Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden both turned pro after last season. Gunnar Helm is also headed to the NFL, leaving the Longhorns without an experienced starting tight end. On the interior DL, all 3 of Texas’s top leaders in snaps from 2024 have moved on: Alfred Collins, Vernon Broughton and Jermayne Lole.

Sarkisian indicated he’s looking for players who can contribute.

“It’s not a secret that we’ll look to the portal, but I’m not going to take a guy that’s just a number,” he said.

The spring transfer portal window opens on April 16.
