Steve Sarkisian’s No. 3 Texas Longhorns snapped Michigan’s 23-game home winning streak in blowout fashion on Saturday, thumping the No. 10 Wolverines in the Big House 31-12.

Sarkisian was pleased that the Horns did not let the Big House atmosphere get to them early. Texas scored once in the 1st quarter before extending its lead to 24-3 before the half with a 17-point 2nd quarter.

“I liked our poise and composure,” Sarkisian said on FOX after the game. “We knew that was going to be needed today. This is a really good team, really physical team. I thought we handled the environment early on and found our rhythm.”

Quarterback Quinn Ewers threw for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns, getting the ball to 5 receivers. The Longhorns gained 143 yards on the ground, led by Ryan Wingo’s 55-yard rushing score. FOX’s Jenny Taft led her postgame interview by asking about the team’s balance.

“That’s critical for us as a team when we can run it, throw it, screen it, RPO – all the things that we like to do,” Sarkisian said. “We can find balance in there, we usually do alright.”

Sarkisian’s squad returns to Austin for a 3-game home stretch. Texas finishes up its nonconference slate with UTSA in Week 3 and UL Monroe in Week 4. The Longhorns will play their first SEC game in Week 5 against Mississippi State.
