Steve Sarkisian and Quinn Ewers were all smiles after a big win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. They reflected on the win with Holly Rowe of ESPN.
“I think the biggest thing was I told the players just to trust me,” Sarkisian said. “We were going to be aggressive in everything that we did, and I had to back up what I preached if I wanted them to play that way, too.”
Sarkisian said he didn’t want to tell his players that Alabama was 52-1 in its last 53 games, “So, I guess they’re 52-2 now.”
Ewers stepped in and explained how he trusted Sarkisian.
“We always trust Coach Sark, he’s got it dialed up,” Ewers said. “We prepare the way we prepare and we’re hard to stop. … We knew this whole week if we came in here, we were going to ball out. We were going to try to make them quit. God is so good, I can’t say that enough. What he’s put me through and made me so strong. I’m so proud of my team, our defense, we balled out. I’m fired up for the rest of the way, fired up.”
Ewers had a message for the national media: “We still have a lot of games to win. We’re still going to roll it up.”
