Steve Spurrier, for peace of mind at the very least, is going back to his strength next season.
The Head Ball Coach said after Tuesday’s fifth spring practice that he would handle play-calling duties exclusively this fall on offense, altering the by-committee approach that led to scrutiny last season during several late-game losses.
“I plan to be the play-caller again,” Spurrier said. “I did delegate at times last year, but I usually took over before the game was over. I certainly plan on doing it. I’ll be ready to do it and go from there.”
Spurrier will take suggestions based on what position coaches may see, but he’ll make the final call before the snap and doesn’t plan on sharing in-game duties like he has done in the past.
