Syracuse quarterback Garrett Shrader landed a backflip in the middle of a play on Saturday vs. Pitt.

Syracuse decided to run a trick play on 3rd and 8 early on in the second quarter. Shrader split out wide and lined up as a receiver on the play — something he has been doing often in this first half.

Syracuse then ran a double-pass play to the opposite side of the field. Running back LeQuint Allen caught a lateral and then threw it deep, but the pass fell incomplete.

However, ESPN circled back to the play to show Shrader doing a back flip on the opposite side of the field. Here’s a look:

Allen’s pass on the play was incomplete, resulting in a Syracuse punt. The Orange led 7-3 at the time of play.

Shrader is in his third season as Syracuse’s starting quarterback. He began his career at Mississippi State but transferred away from the Bulldogs before the 2021 season.

Shrader is battling some sort of upper body injury, which is likely at least part of the reason why Syracuse is running a unique offense in this game against the Panthers. Shrader missed last week’s game against Boston College due to an injury.

The Orange enter this game with a 4-5 record and could still reach bowl eligibility if they win 2 of their final 2 games. Syracuse is winless vs. ACC opponents this season.
