On Sunday, Alfred Thomas, a 2018 DT who is rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports Composite, narrowed his list to eight schools via his Twitter account.
The list should play well in the south, as it features five SEC teams.
Thomas, who resides in Montgomery, Alabama, is currently ranked as the No. 25 DT and the No. 270 player overall in his class.
He has received nine total offers, so this list isn’t much of a culling. Though it’s not surprising to see so many SEC teams in the running, two are conspicuously absent: Alabama and Auburn. Neither school has reportedly offered him.
As for Thomas as a player, he certainly has talent. Surprisingly agile for his 6-foot, 269-pound frame, he showed the strength to pressure the interior gaps, as well as the speed and lateral quickness to rush from the outside. Thomas is a sure tackler who even rushed from a standing position on some snaps, and he could certainly see playing time in the SEC going forward.
