The TaxSlayer Bowl has its eyes on several prominent programs, including a couple from the SEC.
On Wednesday, TaxSlayer Bowl president and CEO Rick Catlett told 247Sports he’d like to have either Georgia or LSU as the bowl’s SEC representative, and either Florida State or Penn State as the other team.

Florida State is a candidate for an at-large New Year’s Six bowl, so the Seminoles may not be available for the TaxSlayer Bowl.
“We’re down to a couple groups of teams,” Catlett said. “On the SEC side, it looks like LSU or Georgia. On the ACC side, we have an option if Florida State’s available to go there, and if it’s not Florida State and we go Big Ten, then it’s probably Penn State.”
The TaxSlayer Bowl, formerly known as the Gator Bowl, will be played on Jan. 2, 2016 in Jacksonville, Fla. It will kick off at noon ET, and be shown on ESPN.
LSU is 8-3 and ranked 21st in the College Football Playoff rankings. Georgia is 9-3. Florida State is 10-2 and ranked ninth in the College Football Playoff. Penn State is 7-5.
