Taylen Green might never throw an easier touchdown pass during his career at Arkansas.
Locked in a scoreless game on national TV at Memphis, the Razorbacks senior quarterback dropped back from his own 38-yard line, got great protection and found a wide-open Rohan Jones, who caught the ball at the Tigers’ 25-yard line and cruised into the end zone untouched to give the Hogs the early 7-0 lead.
SEC Network celebrated the touchdown with this post:
The senior tight end had just 3 catches this season coming into the Week 4 road matchup at Memphis, so this early explosion had to be a welcome sight for Arkansas. Green once again showed off his arm for the nation to see on the 62-yard scoring strike, with the showdown being on ABC.
From the looks of things by late in the first quarter, Arkansas might need a lot more firepower from Green, with Memphis scoring the next 10 points to take a 10-7 lead. The 2-1 Hogs were trying to bounce back from last week’s heartbreaking loss at Ole Miss in their SEC opener.
Green got them off on the right foot, but the defense let Arkansas down after that, possibly setting up a Saturday afternoon shootout in Memphis. Green and the Hogs trailed by that 10-7 score at the end of the first quarter.
