TCU and Kansas State will meet in the Big 12 Championship at noon ET on Saturday. It’s the 17th time in their history, with the series tied at 8-8. Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU is 5-6 vs. Kansas State.
Last week, the Horned Frogs demolished Iowa State, 62-14. Kansas State won a rivalry shootout over Kansas, 47-27, to advance to the Big 12 Championship Game. The Horned Frogs seem to enjoy exceeding expectations. They were picked seventh in the Big 12 preseason poll as they came off a 5-7 campaign last season. The last time they were picked seventh was 2014, when they won the Big 12 championship.
The teams met in October and TCU beat Kansas State 38-28, overcoming an 18-point deficit to take over sole possession of first place in the Big 12. That snapped a 3-game losing streak to the Wildcats.

Leading the Horned Frogs is first-year coach Sonny Dykes, who was the head coach at SMU the previous four seasons (2018-21). He led the Mustangs to 3 consecutive winning records for the first time since the mid-80s and their first back-to-back victories over TCU since 1992-93.
It’s a battle of contrasts, as K-State has the Big 12’s No. 1 scoring defense (19 points per game), while TCU boasts the Big 12’s No. 1 scoring offense (41 points per game).

TCU QB Max Duggan is in the mix for several player of the year awards, and already won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. But that wasn’t the way the season started.
Duggan took over in the second half of the season opener when redshirt freshman starter Chandler Morris sprained his knee. Since then, Duggan is fourth in the nation in passing efficiency with a 171.3 rating. He is tied for second among Power 5 quarterbacks, one off of the lead, with 16 touchdown passes of at least 20 yards and has accounted for 3 or more touchdowns in 8 of his 11 starts this season. Duggan has completed two-thirds of his passes, leads the Big 12 with 3,070 yards and 29 touchdowns, and has thrown only 3 interceptions.
Prediction: TCU 34, Kansas State 31
