Tee Higgins was forced to leave late in the Cincinnati Bengals’ game against the New England Patriots after suffering an apparent head injury.
With under five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Joe Flacco unleashed a deep pass down the right sideline. Higgins leapt to attempt the catch while shielded by a defender, but as he landed on the field, his head hit the ground and he was knocked unconscious.
Here’s the video:
Higgins eventually left the field in a cart and did not return.
The Bengals’ wide receiver corps was already missing its primary threat coming into Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Ja’Marr Chase was serving a suspension after spitting at the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Jalen Ramsey in a Week 11 game. A host of other players entered the game injured, including Joe Burrow, who can return to the lineup as early as Thanksgiving night against the Baltimore Ravens.
Cincinnati gave New England a close game in this one before the Patriots came away with a 26-20 win, their ninth straight victory. New England hosts the New York Giants on Dec. 1.
Meanwhile, the Bengals dropped to 3-8 and have lost four straight games. They’ll await the status of Higgins going into Thanksgiving night’s game at Baltimore.
