Tennessee’s first-year head coach Jeremy Pruitt continues to surround himself on Rocky Top with assistants he knows.
The latest addition to the Volunteer coaching staff is former Alabama assistant Carter Blount. According to FootballScoop, he will serve as a special teams analyst in Knoxville. That’s the same title he held in Tuscaloosa. Just like Pruitt, Blount previously worked for Alabama. Blount also has coaching experience at LSU, Georgia, and much like several members of Pruitt’s first coaching staff, at the high school level in the state of Alabama.
The two coaches also crossed paths in Athens, as Blount was an off-the-field special teams coach, essentially serving as Georgia’s lone special teams coordinator, when Pruitt was Mark Richt’s defensive coordinator. He served in a similar role for LSU.
Blount is an Alabama graduate and worked under Nick Saban dating back to the 2008 season. After leaving Tuscaloosa, Blount worked at South Alabama working his way up the coaching ranks.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Michael Wayne Bratton oversees the news coverage for Saturday Down South. Michael previously worked for FOX Sports and NFL.com
