Tennessee football will be returning to Atlanta in 2025, that is a guarantee.

No, we aren’t making a bold prediction regarding the Volunteers winning the SEC East a few years out, the program just announced it will open the 2025 season against Syracuse in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game from Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025.

Tennessee and Syracuse have faced each other three times with the Volunteers winning every matchup in the series. The most recent game in the series came back in 2001 when Tennessee beat Syracuse 33-9.

“We’re looking forward to having Tennessee back in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game and welcoming Syracuse for the first time,” Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and President Gary Stokan said. “Thank you to Dino Babers and John Wildhack of Syracuse, as well as Josh Heupel and Danny White from Tennessee, for making this game possible.”

This game will mark Tennessee’s third appearance in a Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game as the Vols previously beat NC State 35-21 in 2012 and Georgia Tech 42-41 in 2017.
