Tennessee basketball is creating quite the unit in its 2023 recruiting portfolio. The Vols scored a top 20 class in the 2022 cycle and are well on their way to another in 2023, adding a commitment from 4-star combo guard Freddie Dilione out of North Carolina.

Dilione was widely considered to be favored by Alabama and head coach Nate Oats until his commitment Tuesday morning. He’s rated as the No. 16 combo guard in the nation and the No. 87 overall recruit via 247 Sports composite rankings. He stands at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds.
The Vols have already secured a commitment from Missouri native Cade Phillips, luring the 6-foot-9 power forward away from Alabama and Auburn among others. Both Dilione and Phillips are within the 247 Sports Top 100, with Phillips coming in at No. 82.
