Tennessee is starting to heat up — and pour it on — in the Knoxville Regional winner’s bracket against Indiana.

After knocking off Northern Kentucky with a balanced effort in their opener, the Vols have blasted their way to a 9-0 lead over the Hoosiers heading to the bottom of the 3rd inning. Tennessee has already utilized the long ball on multiple occasions, and it is a grand slam from Billy Amick that blew this one wide open.

A bases-loaded walk to Christian Moore scored 1 run for Tennessee in the top of the 3rd before a strikeout of Blake Burke brought Amick to the plate. He drilled the first pitch of the at-bat into the left field bleachers with Tennessee currently routing Indiana.

Amick’s blast is Tennessee’s 12th grand slam of the season as a team, putting the Vols tied for 2nd-most in a single-season in NCAA history.

Tennessee already has 3 home runs on the game, including drives from Moore and Dean Curley through the first 3 innings at the plate. With Drew Beam on the mound, the Vols have to be feeling good with the early offensive outburst while playing at home.

Indiana answered the Vols with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 3rd, but Tennessee is still in the driver’s seat early on.
