Tennessee fans blasting report of Greg Schiano hiring on Twitter
By Adam Spencer
Published:
On Sunday afternoon, a report came out that Tennessee was zeroing in on a replacement for fired coach Butch Jones.
According to USA TODAY reporter Greg Schiano, the Vols are working on a deal with Ohio State DC Greg Schiano.
Wolken broke the news on Twitter, saying the Vols hope to make Schiano their new head coach by the end of the day:
Tennessee is finalizing the deal with Schiano. Hopes to name him later today, per person with direct knowledge.

Was that a legitimate report or just a smokescreen used to gain fan interest? If it was the latter, it is very clear that Vol Nation would be very upset with AD John Currie if Schiano gets the job.
As you can see from just a small selection of the responses to Wolken’s tweet, Volunteer fans are none too happy with this latest rumor about their next head coach:

@John_Currie If true, UT athletics will NEVER see another dime of our money.

Based on this reaction, Tennessee will either find a new head coach or Vol Nation is about to get a lot smaller.
