Tennessee fans were not happy on Saturday night, particularly down the stretch of a 31-26 loss to Ole Miss.

At issue? Ole Miss players seemingly faking injuries to catch their breath as the Vols offense marched down the field trying to score the game-winning touchdown.

So, when a 4th-and-24 catch was ruled just short by the officials, and upheld upon review, tensions boiled over and fans started throwing trash on the field and at the Ole Miss coaches and players on the sideline.

The SEC issued a statement on the ugly incident on Saturday night after the game:

But, Tennessee fans weren’t having it. Many took to Twitter to push back against what they felt was bad officiating:

Of course, even if Ole Miss players were faking injuries, and even if it was a bad spot on the fourth-down play, what Tennessee fans did was still unacceptable.

That’s no way to act at a sporting event, and we’ll see if the league punishes the Vols further.
