Tennessee football, just 4 years after finishing 3-7 in 2020 and 7 years after finishing winless in SEC play, is (very likely) heading to the College Football Playoff following a win over Vanderbilt.

The Vols finish the regular season 10-2 while going undefeated against Alabama, Vanderbilt, Florida and Oklahoma. More than anything, head coach Josh Heupel was able to navigate his team through a truly chaotic year in the sport with just one “bad” loss – at Arkansas in early October. Heupel once again downed Alabama and led his team to road wins over Oklahoma and Vanderbilt.

The Vols, currently sitting at No. 8 in the latest CFP rankings, will be a CFP team barring very controversial circumstances. And with how the field has shaken out so far, Tennessee is absolutely in play to host a Playoff game, too. They’ll need some help from Maryland, USC and Texas A&M.

It hasn’t been a perfect ride, but it’s a shocking change in scenery compared to the situation in Knoxville before his arrival. And because of that, Vols fans are taking the time to praise their head coach on social media after a 36-23 win over the Commodores.

Here are a few of the top reactions to Tennessee’s CFP-clinching win:
