After giving top-ranked Alabama a scare a week ago, the 11th-ranked Gators were heavy favorites against Tennessee at home on Saturday night.
Florida was a 19-point favorite heading into the game, but the Volunteers have made it interesting and trail just 17-14 at intermission.
Hendon Hooker threw 2 touchdown passes in the first half for Tennessee, and the Vols defense forced a huge fumble late in the 2nd quarter with the Gators driving and looking like they might push the lead to 10 at the half instead of 3.
Instead, Josh Heupel’s team had a chance to tie with a 47-yard FG on the last play of the half but Chase McGrath’s attempt was wide right.
Will Tennessee keep it competitive the rest of the way?
Time will tell, but for now here’s a look at some of the social media reaction to what’s taken place in the first 30 minutes between the Gators and the Volunteers:
Tennessee outplayed Florida in 1st half and they are down 17-14. That means they probably aren’t winning. But not a bad thing that they are competitive in the Swamp for a half in Year One under Heupel.

Florida lucky they’re not playing someone with a pulse tonight. They’ll turn it on now and wax Tennessee.

Tennessee is letting Florida hang around and they're going to pay for it in the 2nd half.

How is Florida struggling with Tennessee. Thought they came alive against Bama last week

I would describe watching these Tennessee/Florida games as a Vol fan as excruciating. pic.twitter.com/ml89HgJZQ3
