Newly minted Tennessee Volunteer Grant Frerking is a big recruit, and not in the traditional sense. Though he is unlisted in the 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2017 class, as the saying goes, you can’t coach height.

If Butch Jones and newly-hired receivers coach Kevin Beard can develop the 6-foot-6 prospect from his current, raw form, he could be a weapon on the goal line in a few years.
At Wesleyan School, he showed the physicality and ball skills to rise above defenders. His natural knack for getting post position and boxing out DBs comes naturally for this two-sport athlete.
He may be a bit slow, but no one is doubting his athleticism:
Frerking comes from an athletic family and one that is familiar with the SEC. His brother Andrew played quarterback at Baylor, and his sister Katie played basketball at Auburn.
Due to his preferred walk-on status, Frerking won’t cost Tennessee a scholarship and the Vols only stand to gain from his development.
