Tennessee starting nickelback Rashaan Gaulden suffered a broken foot during Thursday’s practice and is expected to be out for at least a month, according to multiple reports.

Gaulden played primarily on special teams last season, but had played well enough during spring practice and fall camp to earn a spot at nickelback as a sophomore. A rangy coverman at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Gaulden is one of Tennessee’s more athletic players defensively.

Tennessee’s already lost sophomore guard Austin Sanders (biceps) and fifth-year senior guard Marcus Jackson (biceps) for the season.

Butch Jones has yet to comment on Gaulden’s injury.
