Tennessee moved up in ESPN’s updated power rankings following its big win over Oklahoma on Saturday.

The Vols controlled the game in Norman from start to finish, winning 25-15. With the win, Tennessee is now 4-0 on the season entering its first idle week of the year.

As a result of that performance, Tennessee moved up to No. 3 in ESPN’s power rankings for this week. The Vols are now ranked behind only No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia. Alabama slipped out of the top 3 to help make room for Tennessee.

Here’s some analysis from ESPN’s Chris Low on the Vols’ 2024 season so far:

“The Vols (4-0) have been as complete a team as anybody in the country through four games, with their latest win being a 25-15 road beatdown of Oklahoma on Saturday in a game they led 22-3 going into the fourth quarter. It was Tennessee’s second win over a nationally ranked team away from home this season. While the Vols didn’t light up the scoreboard against the Sooners offensively, they were again dominant on defense. That’s what separates this team from past Tennessee teams.”

Tennessee is -350 to make the College Football Playoff this year, according to the latest odds from FanDuel. Josh Heupel is looking to being the Vols to the CFP for the first time in program history this fall.

Tennessee has a well-earned bye week this upcoming weekend before traveling to Arkansas in Week 6.
