When Josh Heupel’s Tennessee offense has things clicking, it’s a sight to behold.
Not only do the Volunteers have excellent players on that side of the ball, they also run their offense with impressive balance, efficiency, and speed, a combination that’s a nightmare for opposing defenses.
Trying to figure it out tonight has been the Akron defense, and the Zips haven’t had much luck.
The No. 15 Volunteers lead 35-0 at halftime and have amassed 416 yards of total offense in the opening 30 minutes.
Leading the way for Tennessee has been the offense’s orchestrator, Hendon Hooker.
The senior quarterback is 13-of-17 through the air for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns.
College football fans are taking notice as well. Social media has been filled with praise tonight for the way the Volunteers operate when they have the football:
This Tennessee Offense is fun to watch

Tennessee has a dynamic offense. That hurry up offense is hard to defend.

HALF: Tennessee 35, Akron 0
Vols' offense is on full display tonight with 251 passing yards and 165 rushing yards. Tennessee will likely bring in the second strings in the second half and keep its starters healthy.

Tennessee single-game record for yards of total offense is 718 (vs Troy in 2012).
Vols had 416 yards in first half. But backups will get the reps in second half. https://t.co/U4JTT1JD4E

I don’t think I’ll ever complain about Tennessee’s offense going “too fast.”
After watching so many teams struggle offensively it feels so great knowing Tennessee’s offense is really good and fun to watch.
