Tennessee is coming off the worst loss in the history of Neyland Stadium after the 41-0 humiliation at the hands of SEC East foe Georgia. Making matters worse? One of the team’s offensive linemen has just announced he will leave the program.

Backup guard Venzell Boulware announced Monday morning he will leave the team following the program’s 3-2 start to the season. The Vols are currently on a bye week and are set to host South Carolina looking to avenge last seaosn’s loss to the Gamecocks.

The redshirt sophomore made the announcement on Twitter:

A three-star recruit out of high school, the Georgia native signed with the Vols over Ohio State and Clemson. During his Tennessee career, Boulware made three starts on the offensive line. Against Georgia, the Vols shifted right tackle Brett Kendrick to left guard, in place of Jack Jones. Boulware had been backing up Jones all season.

Considering the shuffle on the offensive line, it’s interesting that Kendrick was given the first look to replace Jones over Boulware. It appears that decision has led Boulware to leave Rocky Top for good.
