Brandon Kennedy has been a leader for Tennessee the past two seasons, providing stability on the offensive line by becoming a strong, consistent starter at center. So, it’s no surprised that he’s getting recognized on a national level.

On Thursday, Kennedy was named as one of 12 finalists for the 2020 William V. Campbell Trophy, which is awarded to one player for combined academic success, performance on the field and strong leadership skills. Each finalist receives an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship.

However, one of those players will have that scholarship bumped up to $25,000 and be named the winner of the award, which is being handed out for the 31st time.

Nominees had to be a senior or graduate student with no remaining eligibility who has a GPA of at least 3.2, has been a significant on-field contributor for his team and has displayed strong leadership qualities.

Since the honor was first awarded in 1990, there have been eight SEC players to win it. It’s possible that Kennedy, who transferred from Alabama to Tennessee following his redshirt sophomore season, could soon join that list.

Here’s the list of all 12 finalists for the 2020 award:

Tyler Bradfield, Grand Valley State
Sam Ehlinger, Texas
Jack Gibbens, Abilene Christian
Ezra Gray, Alabama State
Tyriq Harris, Charlotte
Drew Himmelman, Illinois State
Tyler Howerton, Hampden-Sydney
Kekaula Kaniho, Boise State
Brandon Kennedy, Tennessee
Cameron Kinley, Navy
Elijah Molden, Washington
Brady White, Memphis
