National Signing Day for the class of 2020 is under a week away, but for many programs, this weekend is about recruiting the class of 2021. Tennessee picked up commitment No. 6 for its 2021 class by landing a commitment from Gadsen County, Florida edge-rusher Darrell Jackson.

Jeremy Pruitt’s staff got in early on Jackson. At this stage, Jackson’s only other scholarship offers have come from Maryland and Bethune-Cookman. Jackson does not yet have any 247Sports rankings and no Composite grades.

Rocky Top Insider mentions that Jackson, who currently measures 6-6, 235 pounds, is an under-the-radar recruit with this past season being his first of high school football. Highlights from that junior season can be viewed below:

Jackson made his announcement via Twitter.

“First I would like to thank @Coreyfuller4 @Coach2Bless @successathletic @CoachHolston and the rest of the Gadsden County coaching staff,” Jackson posted on the social media platform. “With that being said after a great talk with @CoachJPruitt I am proud to announce that I have committed @TennesseeVolsFB.”

Jackson also used his announcement tweet to give fans a preview of how he will look in orange and white:

As the 2020 cycle comes to a close, Tennessee’s 2021 class is currently ranked No. 14 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC on the Composite.
