Tennessee watched as Zakai Zeigler, an overlooked guard from New York City, developed into a key contributor for its team in 2021-22.

Now, the Vols are hoping to strike gold in the Big Apple once again. On Tuesday, they landed a commitment from another under-recruited player from the city.

As you can see below, 6-8 forward Tobe Awaka from The Bronx announced he was committing to Tennessee via his Instagram page:

Awaka has yet to be rated by the major recruiting services, but he held offers from schools like Pitt, Maryland, St. John’s, Yale and more.

He becomes the first player in the Vols’ 2023 recruiting class.
