Coming into the 2016 season, there were big expectations placed on the Tennessee Volunteers.

After a 5-0 start, the Volunteers collapsed, losing three straight games.

However, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Tennessee players are trying to stay looser after a 55-0 victory over Tennessee Tech last weekend:

“We just wanted to get back to having fun,” Tennessee redshirt junior tackle Kendal Vickers said. “We talked about that all week, just getting back to having fun because at the end of the day, it’s a kid’s game. You get to run around and hit people, have fun and bring energy to the crowd. We feed off the energy of the crowd. We just wanted to get back to having fun. It’s a fun game to play. You can’t lose sight of that.”

This weekend’s opponent, Kentucky, provides a much tougher test than Tennessee Tech, though. In order to avoid having the 2016 season become an even bigger disaster, the Vols will have to make a statement against the Wildcats in Knoxville.
