Tennessee will begin its 125th football season and 100th at storied Neyland Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 2, against Bowling Green, and the Volunteers athletics department is doing everything it can to make it a memorable season for the fans from an experience standpoint.

“We have some new gameday elements in store to welcome our fans back,” Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White announced on Wednesday. “We’ll continue to evaluate our gameday experience, seek fan feedback and identify opportunities to enhance the way things look, sound and feel while still honoring the traditions and pageantry that make fall Saturdays on Rocky Top so unique.”

Highlighting the changes for 2021 will be a new LED lighting system that is in the final stages of implementation, which will be used for pre-game and in-game light shows.

An enhanced fireworks display will also be incorporated into the game-day atmosphere to celebrate Tennessee scoring plays and victories.

Outside of Gate 9, Tennessee will host Truly’s Tailgate, which will open several hours before kickoff and provide fans with food and drink throughout the game. Additionally, former Vol Sterling Henton, who’s now known as DJ “Sterl The Pearl” will be mixing tunes at Truly’s before the game and then taking his energetic act to the field level during the game.
